Cammy

Sadly Cammy passed away about a week ago, she died in my arms after a hard week of being unable to eat or drink to a substantial degree. My life is going so great, leaving my old job, working for my self, joining revolver, getting published, getting my own card game....and more. So amazing but i have these reminders of mortality, having Cammy degrade cut close to home on my mom and my family's struggle with that. But you know, it's times like these you remember the great stuff. Cammy was a wonderful cat, she even came when you called her name. (Not often a cat trait) She was always purring despite her hard life. A broken pelvis didn't slow her down. She was amazing and she'll be missed but if Becky and I gave her those 2 extra years, than I'd say it was worth it.

I always wanted to name my daughter Cammy, it would've been perfect. A nod to street fighter and Gonzo's chicken, but classy enough to be accepted as an individual's name. Plus she could share my awesome initials (CDE), but Becky wouldn't have it but she contested that Cammy the cat was just fine. And she sure was. It's her name now, and I'll smile when I hear her name no matter how it hurts.

I wanted to pimp some BIG JOHN FLOYD! art for a minute. John's about to be a superstar and doesn't know it. Thank god I've had my hooks in him forever. John was essential to finishing Mwahahaha! and has been a great GoToGuy! for me since we made the move to Atlanta. He's even been doing some amazing inks and colors on my design work for a little diddy were playing with on the side. So go check it out, big things for him.

Magic? Dallas had better writing.

Ok, so Spiderman's year long adventure to get rid of MJ has ended....with magic. Magic.....ok....there are some BS meter pandora box concepts (alternate reality and time travel, for example) that can reak of lame. Magic...right there. So now two of Queseda's big goals have been achieved by magic. Honestly I don't really care but....really? I feel bad for anyone who paid for the last year of Spiderman stories, cause it was all a dream! Feel satisfied. Oh and in this deal, what did Mephisto get....he got to break up a marriage.....WORST DEAL FOR THE DEVIL EVER! :P

Oh well, one more reason people should buy Invincible and Lucha Libre...dem books are good. mmm mmm mmm.

Puck

I'm kind of at a loss here. But Puck passed away of some kind of kidney complications. I know....he'd been with us awhile, and Puck like all the cats was unique. Anyways, he'll be missed. I don't know.

I Hate WarCraft, Give me an Amen!

I got this little list from Women Who Hate WoW and man, delicious. After hating on this game for going on three years now, someone made this list that awknowledges everything I hate about it. I'm also done hearing the excuses about it. WarCraft is just a bad habit waiting to happen. Great product. Wonderful designs. It's still heroin, and NO ONE I KNOW who plays it, hasn't started complaining about it within three monthes. It's just like other addictions, it's a relief from the pain, than it is the pain.

Is your loved one addicted to World of Warcraft?

Is checking his World of Warcraft mail, auctions, etc. the first thing he does in the morning or the last thing he does at night?

Does he spend more time playing World of Warcraft that he does at work/school?

Does he speak in World of Warcraft slang to you or other people who are not in the game? Even worse, does he speak in "l33t speak"?

Does the sentence "I'll be done in an hour" really mean 3 or 4 hours?

Does he tell you about instances, quests, and funny anecdotes from the game at least once a day"?

Do he and his friends call each other by their characters' names when they are not playing the game?

Does he seem to be more responsible about completing tasks within the game than completely chores at home or tasks at work?

Does he check the forums in every free moment he has?

If you answered yes to at least one of these questions, your loved one may have a problem.

RSS feed

EVERYBODY WAS DOING IT! So I upgraded to Leopard. (Cool, spaces is awesome BTW) and it has an RSS option on the mail program which I dig and I added Les' site and thought it was cool, so I added one of my own. Click image above or the permenant link in the main menu! Everyone should add a link to their blog or livejournal.

(John/Nikki I'm looking your way!....who am i kidding Nikki doesn't read this blog, but you'll snitch on me Loc, won't you) Enough big brother talk.

DragonCon

So DragonCon was...a little different this year. This is the first time I've gone as a professional (I use the word lightly) much less with a talented group of folks. It was definitly a learning experience, I even sold a few sketchbooks. (Oddly I sold more when I wasn't there, so big ups and thanks to Erica Jacobs and Nate Pratt on that) So quickly I want to thank any folks who picked'em up. Sorry I wasn't there to give you a sketch.

One highlight was I got to meet Mark Walters of BigFanBoy.com, Mark runs the BigFanBoy livecast which I got into cause of their interview with Doug Jones about Pan's Labyrinth. Anyways I dig his podcast, he was there at the show and came to see some of Georges stuff and I got the courage to say hi. He was super nice, even plugged me on the next podcast, it was cool and I love his podcast, it's great stuff to work too get it on iTunes.

That being said a lot of my time was sitting around at the table, I froze up a lot and didn't know what to say to folks. You want to shill your stuff but you don't want to be a prick if folks are just chilling out. Anyways I wanted to run down some of the swag I enjoyed. I got the two Adam Huges sketchbooks, Cully Hamner's new sketchbook (which is cool, Cully is great but for some reason I think this sketchbook has some real prizes since some of the work is from unpublished books), Brian Stelfreeze watercolor book, Sanford Greene's new sketchbook. Everyone had like NEW COLOR SKETCHBOOKS which although awesome, practically broke my back. Easily I spent more money this year than ever before!

I also picked up two great dvd catches. Care Bears The Land Without Feelings, which I LOVE! I find it so charming and playful and I really enjoy the promise of showing it to my niece. I also got the special edition of The Last Unicorn and WOW! Ok this is the cleaned version and holy...wow. Not unlike, Dark Crystal or the Yellow Submarine, this cleaned version is like seeing it with a new set of eyes. It's gorgeous, I wish it had commentary but even still, I loved it so much. I got it signed by Peter S, Beagle who is always treat. BUT EVEN BETTER! THEY HAD A SERIES OF PRINTS FOR SALE OF ORIGINAL CHARACTER DESIGN ARTWORK FROM THE JAPANESE TEAM! and....drool. so stunning. It was cool that buying the prints and the dvd directly from Peter meant he got a nice profit share. His buisness partner is doing a great job earning him the career he deserves.

Are you fuckin' kidding me?

This just fuckin' blows, not cause he's a great artist or a great artist, but because EVERY FUCKIN' PERSON WHO KNOWS HIM has sworn he's just the greatest, nicest, Mr. Rogers of a guy. (...and that was before he passed) Ugh.

Everyone keeps commenting that he was so young and in great shape, unlike 90% of us, and it makes me feel like, what's fair when it comes to death. My dad was 56. We thought it was too young. My Aunt recently passed and she was well on in years, but still full of life. Sometimes I feel like death is fair only cause it's completely unfair and that still fuckin' sucks.

That's awesome and sweet.

I like Penny-Arcade and recently the artist has this...I can't put my finger on it, but some of his expressions have a subtlety that is both impressive for his growth, but also extremely effective for the comedy of the strip. I love Gabe's final expression in panel 3, it's of such childlike joy.

Speaking of which, he told a story in their blog thingie about going to Pokemon tournament. It warmed my heart. More fans should remember what it is to love and not just "collect & judge" something.

F* You, and thanks for all the Fish.

Been drawing with these red and blue pencils, like da animators use. I got say, i like it. I'd post the sketch but I drew over it so much it hurts to look at. This is just another in a series of doing a self portrait out of aggrevation. I got pissed recently and decided not to take it. Needless to say, you want your feelings hurt I'm all to willing lately. So FYI, you get your head torn off, well, you were warned.

Meanwhile, I owe a lot of folks some work, and I've been playing emo, so it's time to get back to it.

Casey Simpson

The Simpsons Movie Site has their own create-a-character thing. Those are always fun. So I made one, the Casey quote is provided by Dennis "I don't like people playin' on my phone" Estanislao so blame him...although I did really say that, but it was in song for me and...than later...to sell a fictional tomato sauce. ....don't question me.... or...i'll cut you. :P
